Microneedling

Microneedling was originated by a Swiss dermatologist and the technique has been used across much of Europe for the past 20 years.  It is a very common modality for achieving smooth, beautiful skin.  Today microneedling is becoming a frequently requested procedure by our aesthetician.  The procedure helps to fade scars, revive sluggish skin, and rejuvenate the overall complexion.

During microneedling, a series of ultra thin needles are injected into the dermis and epidermis. These micro wounds tell the body to start repairing itself, and as a result, collagen and elastin begin to regenerate. These tiny perforations also allow the introduction of important nutrients, vitamins, minerals and skin medications, guaranteeing that they will be well absorbed.

What can I expect from the microneedling procedure?

Microneedling is administered with the use of a skin pen, or battery-operated, handheld device containing one dozen fine needles. These are customized to the exact depth required by each patient. The pen gently glides across the skin over a period of about 15 minutes. Remember that a numbing gel is usually applied before the pen is used, so you will not experience any discomfort. A light treatment usually feels like sandpaper brushed against the skin, while a deeper treatment may feel like a sunburn

How many treatments do I need?

Because microneedling is gentle and progressive, it generally requires a series of sessions spaced out over several months. With each session, results accumulate and the complexion gradually improves. Those with acne scars will usually need between 6 and 8 sessions to see complete success.

Recovering

In the hours and days that follow microneedling, your skin may feel tighter than usual. It may also be extra sensitive to the sun, so you will want to protect your skin from the rays through sunblock and a sunhat. Be careful not to pick at the skin so it may heal properly.

Where does my microneedling treatment take place?

All our procedures are performed in the privacy and convenience of our aesthetic center.    This immaculate facility is home to world class technology, state-of-the-art equipment, and a team of plastic surgeons and skin care professionals who are standing by to ensure your excellent care.

How can I learn more about microneedling?

The first step is to set up a personal consultation with our aesthetician.   During this initial session, we will examine your skin, go over your medical records, review any medications you might be taking, and answer your questions and concerns in depth. Your well being is always our top priority, so we will never suggest a treatment unless we are absolutely sure you need it.

The consultation is also a great time to look at before and after photos from our library of success stories. This will give you a much better idea of what kind of results you can expect with microneedling treatment.  As with any treatment a complementary VISIA skin analysis is an integral part of the procedure.
